As humans, it’s normal to crave for affection and human interaction. That being said, some people would enjoy going to crowded places and socialising with everyone. But, there are also some people who would prefer being alone and enjoy their own company.

Just recently, a Malaysian man shared that he is being teased by his colleagues for wanting to spend some alone time. In his post he said,

“Is it wrong for wanting to be alone and enjoy my own company? My colleagues have been asking me to meet more people and socialise but I like this peaceful and quiet life that I currently have.”

He then explained that when he first broke up with his girlfriend, he also hoped that there will be someone there to keep him company but as time passed, he got used to being alone and is now contend with the way his life is.

Man Using Phone

“I always reject my friends when they ask me to go out and only show up occasionally. Sooner or later, they stopped inviting me and I’m okay with that. I fell in love with going to karaoke, watching movies, eating and even going to the gym alone but my colleagues keep pushing me to go out and socialise with other people”, he added.

He mentioned that he would always talk to his colleagues and would often have lunch with them but after work hours, he appreciates his alone time and would rather not mingle around.

“Am I weird for not wanting to have friends and for enjoying being alone?” he asked.

Stressed Man

Then, he ended the post by saying,

“I don’t think it’s wrong for me to like being alone, but with the way my colleagues are pushing me, it feels as if I’ve committed a deadly sin. I don’t hate anyone and I just genuinely like being alone.”

Many netizens reassured him that it’s okay to enjoy his own company and he’s normal for appreciating his alone time, not wanting anyone to intrude.

“It’s truly a joy to be alone.”

“I like being by myself too. Even though I socialise with my colleagues, and we would have a good laugh, but when I get off work, I’d really rather be with my myself than mingle around.”

“There’s no right or wrong when it comes to this, as long as you’re happy it’s okay.”
